    Ian Brown- Solarized

Picked it up in Tesco's on my way home from work this morning. My main reason for buyin it is because i saw him and Noel Gallagher on the Jonathon Ross chat show a few weeks a go. The track they played sounded pretty good. Glad i bought it. I'm on my second run through right now and it's growing on me very quickly. I love the way Ian Brown's strong regional accent comes though in his songs.
Well worth £9.97 of my money, however I'm sure that it will be in the £5- £7 section in Fopp before too long.

The Album seems to be very multi layered with lots of influences hidden away in the mix that you need to listen out for. All in all a great purchase that will be geatting played to death over the coming days - I'm off to Amazon now to see if it's available on vinyl......

S&C, that's a common feature in his most recent albums ("Music of the Spheres" and "Golden Greats"). They're definitely worth investigating if you don't already have them.

If "Solarized" is anywhere near as good as "Spheres", then I'll have to get me a copy.

Just had a look and I have 'Unfinished Monkey business' and 'Music of spheres' on the rack. I can't actually remember playing them though  If i did they certainly didn't etch themselves on my memory . They are sitting on top of the CDP now though so will get a look in over the next few days. I really should pay more attention to what I've already got. The trouble is i pop into places like Fopp just when I'm passing on my way back to the car park, spend a few quid on some of the £5 or £7 discs and then because they are so cheap just seem to dismiss them, whereas when I've spent £10 - £15 on a new disc i probably try to get more money's worth out of it .

I'll give them a spin though.

S&C, "Unfinished Monkey Business" is a bit of a mixed bag IMO but well worth a listen just for 'Corpses in their Mouths" and 'What happened to ya : Part 2".

"Spheres" is just immense and goes to show that you can have great production, on an (almost) mainstream release, from a highly popular artist.

Contrary to popular belief, he's actually a prety sharp guy.

    Enjoy  .

You know it's still one of my favourite albums Misplaced Childhood. Must dig it out tomorrow. I remember with great fondness someone chucking a pie at Fish at the apollo in manchester, so he whanged it back. Class

    Hey Voodoo...!

    Cheers mucka,

Thanks for making me take the time to actually listen to what i already had. Both Unfinished Monkey Business and 'Spheres have been getting a good spanking over the last few days. I have 'Monkey' on at the minute in the background as i type this, I think i prefer it to 'spheres, although its a little strange in places, I listened to it on Heaphones at first and that distorted Bass on some of the tracks threw me for a while on some of the tracks, (please tell me it's the recording and not my system).

Ian Brown and the Stone Roses are pretty much the only folk getting a look in at the moment.

Track 04 Ice cold cube has some great geetar screaming out at the mo :D ..

    .....Later

    Hi Dean.

How do you rate this? I caught a bit of the track with Mr Albarn singing and thought it sounded very good. A proper listen might change my mind, but sounded good. Seemed similar to MOby's play album style.

I was a big fan of "Better Living Through Chemicals" when it first came out. But though some tunes have impressed since, none of the albums seem to hav ecome close to it.
