Greatest hits - Sheep on drugs; they had their first album called "Greatest hits" loooooong before GLC thought of it!

The GLC album isn't really their first though. There's been a few albums available as download only.

Anyone heard the GLC album btw? Laugh out loud funny! Only heard it a few times, but will write MOre when I've had a longer listen.

Bjork - Medulla
Gift of Gab - Fourth Dimensional Rocketship Going Up
Latryx - The Album

BL21DE3, think/guess you have these last two but have you checked the new GoG album above? Good stuff.

The Fiery Furnaces, Blueberry Boat. Follow-up to last year's quite good Gallowsbird's Bark, this is really interesting. A mixture of electronics, American primitivism, and general poppy weirdness, very playful, some good tunes nicely messed around with. I like this very much, been playing it a lot recently.

A wide range of opinions on Amazon on this one http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002DRDVE/102-0784908-4809756?v=glance

I've just discovered 'the Furnaces' and I think it's pretty great. Also bought the first album and reckon that's pretty fab' too.

Sunn 0))) ââ'¬â€œ White 2
This is incredible! Deep bass droning doom metal, with a very scary sounding guy (possibly satan) reading some 5000 year old sanskrit text. Lovely vinyl pressing, great g/f sleeve, awsome, awsome!!! Possibly album of the year for me.
Comes with following message: "Maximum volume yields maximum results", how true.

Spinning in the drawer this morning is side 2 of Miguel Migs' new album "24th street sounds" on the Nitelife series....awesome smooth West Coast House sounds from Mr M!!....love it!

Booker Ervin/Dexter Gordon/Jaki Byard/Reggie Workman/Alan Dawson, Setting The Pace.

Now that's what I call a band. Joel recommended this a few months ago, recently scored a copy. Swings like buggery, excellent as Booker Ervin albums always are.

sasha - involver. odd (and annoying) cd packaging but bloody good remixes of the likes of shpongle, unkle and others.

Nils Landgren Funk Unit - Funk Da World
If you like your jazz to have a pfunk edge this is the one - even got Fred Wesley as guest trombone, and there's most excellent covers of Riders On The Storm (funky, as it should have been!), and Herbie's Rockit (also pfunky..). It'll also make the most bass-light system sound like a disco what with being a touch heavily recorded at that end (not that I'm complaining, the whole house moves!)

Brave Captain, All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace. New album from Martin Carr (ex-Boo Radleys). He mostly plays the laptop rather than the guitar nowadays, but still can't stop himself writing great songs.

Giant Sand, Is All Over The Map. Howe Gelb's long-running alt-countryish outfit, contains one beautiful song done twice in very different ways (Classico), an excellent reworking of Anarchy in the UK (sung by a child, and retitled Anarchistic Bolshevistic Cowboy Bundle) and other good things. Interesting and good fun.

Have you sussed out where the name Brave Captain comes from? It's a track off Ragin' Full On by Firehose, a record Martin bought from the little record shop I used to work in back in the mid 80s.

I hadn't spotted that, but have immediately added it to my mental list of pop trivia quiz questions.

I'm jealous. They were easily my favourite psych-scally group, and fantastically underrated now and at the time, but I only saw them play once.

Hi Dean.

How do you rate this?

Hi Mo,

This album is alright. Not his best. Got some nice bits on it but not going to be a classic. I got this free and, if I had to pay for this, it wouldn't be top of my purchase list.
