Currently Spinning

Robbie Williams is an enigma to me.I should hate him,but I don't.His music is as uplifting as listening to Sinatra for the first time in a year, and Angels is such a good tune. (imho).I always singalong to most of hsi stuff on the radio, which for me,is a shocking revelation

Only cos of Take That, but hey good music is what you like ! Do think he made a big mistake at splitting with Guy Chambers though.

More nostalgia choons on the way :D Eloy - Colours and Mothers Finest - Iron Age

The Fiery Furnaces, Blueberry Boat. Follow-up to last year's quite good Gallowsbird's Bark, this is really interesting. A mixture of electronics, American primitivism, and general poppy weirdness, very playful, some good tunes nicely messed around with. I like this very much, been playing it a lot recently.

I'd also be listening to Blueberry Boat right now if Amazon hadn't cocked up my order. Gallowsbird's Bark was practically the only genuinely fresh record I heard from a new band last year. Eclectic and scattershot, and borrowing from deep dressing-up box of influences and sources, they still managed to make a sound that was utterly their own.

That edgy brother/sister creative relationship is particularly interesting ââ'¬â€œ*like Karen and Richard crossed with Bart and Lisa. Love Eleanor's voice too. Kind of Karen Carpenter again, by way of Phylis Diller!

Glad someone else has latched on to them. Now if only Amazon would get a bloody move on.

It's worth the wait Ron. Be interested to hear what you make of it. It's quite a bit more diverse than Gallowsbird's Bark, which is an achievement in itself.

Jean Michel Jarre - Aero

Not really a new album, more of a remixed retrospetive. Familiar tracks of old re-recorded on modern instruments, although there are 3 new tracks. Sort of like what Mike Oldfield did in Tubular Bells 2003.

Two discs in this package, a CD and a DVD-V with DD5.1 and DTS soundtracks. I'm not that bothered about the all new surround presentation, but just got this album because I'm a completist. :)

Good, isn't it? They still sound like the perfect future. You really oughta get Trans-Europe Express, Radioactivity, The Man-Machine, and Computer World too.

I've ripped a load of CDs I've bought over the last few months, things I keep meaning to listen to but have never got round to, onto the iPod, and have stuck it on shuffle playing through the hi-fi, so I have no idea what I'm listening to ATM. Current track is a minimal electronic thing which is going blip-blip-bing quite a bit. Not bad.

I have revealed a weakness in the iPod design however - I've filled it up already. It really needs to be backpack-sized, with a minimum of a terrabyte of storage.

HenryT - that Aero album by Jarre sounds interesting. Might have to get that one - Oxygene and Equinoxe are classic albums, IMHO.

Ian Brown - Solarized

Sarge, you'll have to let me know what you think of this one.
"Music of the Spheres", the subsequent remix album and "Golden greats" are just excellent and I've been interested in picking his one up.

Currently enjoying Jill Scott " Beautifully Human" - possibly even stronger than her debut and aptly titled.

Iron Age by Mothers Finest

Another retro purchase

But great motherfunking rock 'n' roll. Apparently their "heaviest" album. Not world beating in the production stakes - a bit bottom end and recessed lead female vocals but stonking rifferama stuff :D

Still spinning Jill Scott's new masterpiece and so far it get's my vote for favourite album of 2004. It could almost have been written by Stevie Wonder in his prime :)

Yes Voodoo & AT, buy it now, buy them all, not as good as The Stone Roses, but still very good.
