sorry yes, half asleep. Yes there's a big petition for Metallica to re-record it. But apparently, I think its elsewhere on this forum theres a trend in modern recording just to ramp everything up so theres not much contrast or depth. I can't comment - just wondered how it sounds. Rumour has it there is a better mix on the playstation Guitar Hero game than got pressed to CD! Hence the petition as some fans have both and noticed!

The Church - Starfish

Nice bit of Byrds influenced rock w/out the country bits. Their peak - everything after this was a bit rubbishy really.

Tangerine Dream - Sorcerer OST

Sorceror OST is fantastic - good choice there.

The Church are also excellent from the small amount I have heard.

I'm listening to the best of Cream and a Siouxie and the Banshees collection, plus some random electronica....

Had your Grant Lee Buffalo on last night... damn fine!

will play the rest this week! :)

The Church - Under the Milky Way tonight... lovely soft goth tune. Siouxsie - pulled to bits, great stuff.

I had All About Eve on Vinyl the other night (not literally) very nice mellow tunes, she sounds so much better on record than the CD pressing.

Probably the only tune ever to feature a backwards bagpipe solo :MILD:

My friend had real fun when he bought the very first pressings of AAE's first album - every one was marred by awful surface hiss and the sound of somone making a 'full english' during a lot of the quiet bits. I cheated - I bought the CD :D

This morning, I'm going Floyd.

First up "More" and then the audio track of "Pompeii" - not exactly HiFi but what a performance.

Got home before SWMBO so had chance to test the Meridian again:

John Martyn - One World (Deluxe Edition) - Never knew how much detail was missing when I'd played it before. The changing synth textures on "Dealer" and the sound of the geese on "Small Hours" are just two new details uncovered.

Allan Holdsworth - Atavachron - His first 'synthaxe' album I believe. Stunning musicianship as you'd expect from AH but spoiled by being not very well recorded really.

Cluster - Cluster II

Mark Isham - Tibet

John Themis - Ulysses & the Cyclops
John Themis - Sirens
Durutti Column - The Return Of / LC / Without Mercy

keb mo - keb mo

good ol' fashioned blues...

anyone like this style of music and can recommend similar artists I'd be grateful

of course I could always try more keb mo

I love 'Bordeaux' and 'Response', oh and 'Real Drums Real Drummer' saw Vinny Reilly at Manchester Cathedral with 808 State years ago, mint.

Currently spinning - Fleet Foxes

Eric Bibb?

I've a couple of Eric Bibb albums. They seem to contain an almost 50/50 split of good/bad tunes. Well, I say bad, but maybe just not what I was after.

But tunes like this
make them worth buying regardless!

Depeche Mode - The Things You Said - with its very obvious nod to Kraftwerk!

Roxy Music - In every Dream Home a Heartache - pure class.

Like Smiffy - Pink Floyd's Division Bell, just works really well in the car at night.
