Not heard this. I've got Frequencies and Advance. Both of which I like, but haven't played much recently. I'll pop them on in a min :D

Merlin.

I chucked Kaya on when I was painting some fences in the garden. Didn't mean to, but must have pressed repeat. Heard the whole album through 3 and a half times before coming up and changing it :D

Also had burning and catch a fire on today too :D

Currently have the Beta Bands new album playing again. Wasn't overly impressed at first. But it's growing. Seems a little less quirky and entertaining than the previous ones. But it's one which I think will grow and i'm giving it the chance! Would say it's sounding better with every listen. But it's a crap mp3 version with lots of clicks and blips

I intended on getting it on original anyway, just need to shove it closer to the top of the "to buy" list.

for today:

Dr Octagon
Linton Kwesi Johnson/Bass Culture
Bobby Hutcherson/Dialogue
Cinematic Orchestra/Everyday
Thelonius Monk/Genius in Modern Music vol.2
Free Association
VA/Batucada Por Favor
VA/The Lost Highway

Aqualung "Still Life" - My brother got this yesterday and I wasn't expecting much. Pretty impressed though! OPen and honest.

Delakota "One Love" - A fav of mine. Not heard anyhting from these since this 97 release! Where are the now? Quality from start till finish!

Zutons "Who killed the Zutons" - Been looking forward to this for a while! Had heard quite a bit of it already and it seemed to fly by when played it.

The Nectarine No. 9, I Love Total Destruction

It arrived yesterday and gave it a spin last night - I like it! I understand your description now, Ian, and thank you for making the attempt you did. I definitely hear the Velvet Underground/Captain Beefheart/Fall comparison - I only heard it once so am still looking for the others, although I would add a couple of my own in the meantime as well: Fugazi and Carnival Art. Both of which I love.

Top recommendation, thank you - I'll keep listening and will look out for other albums as well.

Thank you...

Chris.

PS - on topic, I'm currently spinning right round, baby, right round, like a record, baby, round round round round round....

Eric Bibb "me to you" and "painting signs"

Excellent, glad to hear the Nectarines have a new fan.

Currently spinning Ellery Eskelin/Andrea Parkin/Jim Black, One Great Day. Top version of Roland Kirk's "The Inflated Tear" on this.
