What was the final outcome of the tacT 2175 after the audition period?

    ooh, complete indoctrination :D

I ask as I have the same(ish) Rotel and am therefore interested in knowing what other things people compare it to. Do the MLs have single or double terminations?

Double terminals on the ML's, but i only biwire them.
I have had the Rotel back in the system for the last week now. I find it less tiring and more enjoyable than the TacT. But the TacT does have much better bass control.

Hmm, BC for the Bass/Mid and keep the Rotel for the Mid/Hi, no probs then, just a little cash outlay for a new amp shelf and bingo. Save money in heating bills at least!

yes, I'd like to know too. I've just re-read a whole lot of past BC EV4 discussion, and very interesting it was too.

Hi Penance - was there any quibble over returning the amp to Tact? I am thinking of trying demo of one of their amps, so did everything go OK?

    Hi Alan,

I think the guy was slightly purturbed at me wanting to send it back, some odd comments (well amusing anyway). But no, no problem, i returned it by parcel farce, got a cheque for the full amount 4 days later.

    Alan,

if you are thinking of trying out an M2150, it has a very different sound to the SDA2175. It actually has a very different sound to just about anything else I have used. It basically has no sound at all if that makes sense?

Yep - its the true digital amp I'm interested in: it could replace 3 components, DAC, preamp and power amp, in my system and might leave me a bit better off if I sold the stuff it replaced.

One question is what it would do to my collection of classical SACDs?... I'm wondering how they would sound after A-D conversion at 24/192.

That's very tight lipped for you Penance. In diplomatic mode are we, or would you care to expand?

It does amuse me when companies sell things on sale or return and then seem surprised when people actually have the inteligence to decide they don't like something and want to get their cash back.

I can't decide whether you're making a pun by combining diplomat and TACT there, or to suggest some spelling lessons might be in order too :D . The latter I feel ;) .
