I think Mana is gone out of business

My wifes contribution is usually to complain about the mess. Either A from untidy wires, or B from records being not instantly returned to their rightful place. A particularly irritating habit she has is to stuff the outer sleeve in one place and the inner in another, causing at least an hour of searching. There must be in existance a forum where womenkind sits and discusses the stupidity of men at great length. 'They say they can tell the difference between a CD that's had it's edge painted green and one that hasn't! Can you believe it....'
I personally think that Mana's failing is that it is on the ugly side, and therefore difficult to get approval for in the house. I suspect the stainless steel edition had more to do with that than anything else. It would be very sad for yet another stalwart of the British hi-fi scene to go tits-up.

In a post that got lost with the music split-off from this thread, I said that the Mana forum is alive and well. It is my understanding that so is the company. Cries of woe are unnecessary.

I think the alleged ugliness of Mana is overstated. Mine was recently much admired by a young female visitor, without any prompting.

Markus, why is the forum locked to non-members? Are they plotting against us?

a young female visitor,
And you have the nerve to talk about paedo decks elsewhere?

You mean you can't read the forum? Goody, I didn't know you could keep certain individuals from reading a forum. ....mod edit, please dont bring arguements from other forums onto ZG. thanks very much...

Although banned from Mana forum, I did like to pop in now and again to see whos birthday it was, but I can;t get any more.

Perhaps John has finally gone dolaly and has locked himself in a room with a fair amount of drooling?

I think the way people wheel on their (presumably) unsuspecting wives in hi-fi discussions is rather splendid.

I have a very non-hi-fi wife, whose sole concern is that there not be too many "boxes". But she plays the piano and has a good ear. Sometimes she has condescended (with the weary air of someone with about a billion better things to do) to listen to A-B comparisons of things, including cables. Her invariable opinion - no difference. (I didn't try the Mana on her, James, because she'd listen with the unspoken thought "I'm not having that in the house!").

No idea but I'll willingly auction my membership to the truly curious...

My ex loved hifi. I bought a pair of pmc mb2s in oak and she complained they werent black - apprently she wanted to feel more dominated by their presence - one presumes she wished to worship them like the big black monliths in the film "2001". All very strange - especially her interest in the bass driver. Anyone seen the howard stern film?

Why the interest in the bass driver - was it the "pumping" action during large excursions?

Time for a Mana Forum Song (with apologies to Gilbert & Sullivan). All together now:

I am the captain of the Mana For'm
(And a right good captain too!)
You are very, very good and I wish it understood
That we have a right good crew
(We are very, very good and he wish it understood
That we are a right good crew)
Tho' it's nowt but glass and steel
It really gives a feel
To music that induces glee
And I swear my angle iron
Really sets the gear on fire'n
I never use hyperbole
(What, never?)
No, never!
(What, NEVER?)
Weeeellll, hardly ever!
(Hardly ever use hyperboleeeeeeeee)
Thennnnnn ââ'¬â€œ give three cheers and one cheer more
For the modest Captain of the Mana For'm
Then give three cheers and one cheer more
Forrrrrrrr - the Captain of the Mana For'm!

I do my best to satisfy you all
(And you make us right content!)
You are very, very fine, and I wish to underline
That your praise is so well meant!
(We are very, very fine, and he wish to underline
That our praise is so well meant!)
With non-ferrous stainless spikes,
And racks, I'm sure your likes
Will be catered for more perfectly
But more Phase is what you wants, your perfection to enhance,
But not enhance my pounds and p.
(What, never?)
No, never!
(What, NEVER?)
Weeeellll, hardly ever!
(Hardly ever enhance pounds and ppppppppp)
Thennnnnn ââ'¬â€œ give three cheers and one cheer more
For the altruistic Captain of the Mana For'm
Then give three cheers and one cheer more
Forrrrrr - the Captain of the Mana For'm!

Ah well, the Mana forum is now back up & running.

All references to late / non-delivery have been wiped clean, and I guess it'll be business as usual over there... They've agreed that they are the best forum, which is a pretty good start.

Happy Birthday, to everyone on the Mana Forum!

The now-dead link was to a guy who had (allegedly) paid for a 6 tier rack, but had encountered supply problems. I think it's a shame that they seem to be having difficulties.

I am that guy! I have some Mana stands and have been a Mana customer for 20 years. I ordered and paid for a 6 tier custom stand to match an existing one. Placed my order on 28th April and paid in advance (£1,000) but since then I have received only excuses - growing the business, new equipment, new electricity supply required, waiting for material, sickness, holidays etc etc. I was offered a free Sound Stage (not required) and a upgrade to SS (not bothered) but they will not even give me a date for potential delivery. I have always been polite and out of sheer frustration I posted on the forum asking if anyone else was experiencing delays. My post was quickly deleted and my registration cancelled. I PM'd the owner via the forum and also sent him a polite email seeking information about my stand (or a refund) but no response. I did get a message from a Mana Forum regular who gave me some inside information (which I will not go into) but things do not look good for me and my stand.

No idea what to do next other than write it off and get rid of the remaining stands as I need a matching set. Very disappointing as I have always been a Mana supporter and never criticised them. It was my first post to their forum!

Very disappointing to hear Heuer. I have seen your Mana over at AV Talk.

My suggestion would be to issue a summons immediately if the supplier is unable to either meet the order or supply a refund. If nothing else, for a small sum, you will be able to get a winding up order against them which will hasten their departure.

And even non-members can view it now!

I thought the forum-comparison thread was most amusing!
