Mana Audio update

Listen.

If you bought a piece of hi-fi equipment, and posted praise, how would you react to a number of other people, all of whom had clearly never even seen it, let alone auditioned it, posting that it was a load of rubbish, or a big con, or whatever?

I've had plenty of experience with Mana stands and Mana users. I prefer the latter.

er, rise above it and remember that my hi-fi is not an extension of my personality.

Can someone explain to me how Mana designs work?

What are the mechanisms involved? All I can see on the Mana website are lots of references to ââ'¬Å"The Mana Effectââ'¬Â.

Good question Bub. I probably would be upset initially and may even question whether I made the right decision or whether the other people were simply on windup etc. But at the end of the day, I'd like to think that there is more to life than worrying about what people think of my hifi and put it down to differences of opinions/preferences etc. I'd not be upset for long. I certainly wouldn't resort to name calling.

I'm not "worried" what people think of my hi-fi.

I'm not "upset".

I am somewhat frustrated that numerous people on this forum who have never even tried Mana have such entrenched and seemingly "well-thought-out" opinions about it. Most of them display similar attitudes to numerous other hi-fi accessories, so I guess it really doesn't matter. Just place your hi-fi on the floor, it won't affect me in any way.

Calling someone a "girly-man" is obviously a joke, is it not?

Michael, I genuinely think you are wrong here. The German magazine "stereoplay" has done measurements on stands (not on Mana, unfortunately) which show clear differences in the resonance and absorption behaviour and which appear to correlate well with the subjective 'flavour' of a stand.

I'd actually be surprised if these weren't audible, at least not with gear that is indeed susceptible to what it sits on. Not all is, particluarly not stuff that is using SMD devices IME.

FWIW Bub, I don't have an opinion on Mana because I've never tried it. I doubt whether my hearing is up to appreciating various differences that stands may make. I only ever criticised some of the posts by over-zealous posters.

BTW the following was also a joke:-

A very good question Andy. He loves us really :D or loves a good argument.:)

There you go, Michael; 'German Magazine', 'measurements'... seems to check all the right boxes...

When I get some time I'll prepare an ASS paper for you on the benefits of isolating eqiupment from external vibration. It's a radical theory I have that is based on 'experience' and 'listening'.

What a great shame that Mana users, when confronted with genuine questions from experienced music lovers, simply resort to rudeness and name calling. If this does not go some way to proving Robbo & Dev's point I don't know what will.

Bub, you seem to have asked Markus for a critique of your system on a number of occasions but there has been none forthcoming nor have any of the nerdathon guests to my knowledge changed their systems or ordered any Mana (that was lucky ;-) )

Do you not feel it might be advisable to let that particular subject rest in the interests of no one's feelings being hurt?
