No global negative feedback

They say 13 kgs each, usually tube amplifiers are heavier, for instance the Wavac MD-300Bm 19 kgs, Audio Note GAKUON II 33 kgs...

Of course weight is not proportional to sound quality, I hope... ;)

And you sell these miracle amps don't you Keith. How much are you charging for the mono's or are you offering deals for forum members via PM:rolleyes:

Reviews and opinions of dealers should be totally ignored and flagged IMO.

But you are selling your speakers Mike, should we ignore your posts too?

Hi Coops,

How much are those Allnic amplifiers?

SCIDB

SC Hi only the 1500 phono has been CE certified as yet, price in Europe is about 3700 Euros, Mike is partly right I may represent Allnic in the Uk when certification is complete, you are more than welcome to come and hear them, or borrow the 1500 phono, just pm me,Keith.

I'm not. I'm building something for my own pleasure I'm afraid - maybe a difficult concept for a dealer.

I'm afraid I don't like dealers using enthusiast's forums as cheap marketing. If you are serious, why not put an advert in the press or try to get some reviews of the brands you stock/represent? Your current approach is cheap and losing you the friends you had from what I am told.

Were you just boasting about the three pairs you have already sold?

dealers don't have friends.

seriously, a number of friends lost is really irrelevant, at least for me - i am more curious how many of alphas and allnics are sold through this kind of forum posts. i have no doubts that the gear is fine, the only problem is a kind of rodney and del boy marketing subtlety.

No you are getting your wires muddled. The guy who designed the model I am working from, and who made my custom horns has sold three pairs of the design I sent a picture of. My speakers are different - and designed for my room and my tastes. I don't think you'll find me claiming they are the best in the world ;)

I'm half tempted to show them if you are taking those Cessaros somewhere though:D

I would be keen to hear them , it's not everyday a keen diy-er exhibits his efforts at a commercial HiFi show.

Mic what about bringing them to the 'audio jumble' in September tables are pretty reasonable.

Ooh you are cutting.

I'll take the room next to you - assuming you try to sell these Cessaro things through normal channels rather than relying on carpet bombing the internet chat rooms.

The old TV repair guy says this:

Replacing 12AT7 with E80CC might not work due to the limited current in the heater winding of the power transformer.

Here's the math:

12AT7's draw 300 mA each
6SN7G's draw 600 ma each
E80CC's draw 600 mA each

Original: 300 + 300 + 600 + 600 = 1.8 A - just like the heater winding is specified.

Mod: 600 + 600 + 600 + 600 = 2.4 A - that is 600 mA over the specs, it won't be able to supply this extra current.

Another experience:

Out of curiosity I tried my E80CC tubes, a very under-rated and under-used tube. These are a high MU tube very similar to the 81, but are deemed a special quality tube. They worked quite well in the SRPP Basie even if they are a very different tube from the ECC82 (High MU E80CC vs the Low MU of the ECC82). In the new Basie they worked even better, vastly superior to the Mullard ECC81 (CV4024), fuller and richer sounding. They pull double the heater current than an ECC81 so the MM stage tubes had to be removed to use them in the line stage otherwise it would stress the heater supply regulator.

This is what I call BAD LUCK... :bub:

One pin of one resistor desoldered without anyone touching it, while playing, by destiny's irony, it was R28...

The one I have to replace when/if I replace the input tubes with E80CC, but that I have never touched yet...

Today I decided to check every part and found out this problem, now it plays with zero noise, not even the very slight hiss I could hear in the beginning with my ear against the speaker...

5 Siemens E80CC arrived from Peru, from a seller with zero feedback, like my amplifier... ;)

I have never seen such a package, the guy must have lots of time or lots of help...

They came inside a "tupperware", yes a plastic food box, filled with layers of foam cut exactely to fit, but thats not all, the box was wrapped in thick cloth all sewed, looked like a surgeon job, with a copy of the guys ID glued to the outside... :yikes:

And what is better, they look like new, at least the pair I am using sounds quite good...

I was advised to change a resistor in the power supply, because these babies use twice the current of the E81CC, they are twice the size too, but I am a bit fedup of opening and closing the amplifier... :shame:

Waiting till they have a bit more use to test, but so far bass and treble are as good or better than ever, mids are a bit recessed and not as 3D as they have been...
