It is very complicated to do what you ask, to measure it has to be upside down, not possible with the EL34 on, so not possible to switch on without resorting to kamasutra... ;)

The bass problem is not with the subwoofer, I think, it is above those frequencies, just sounds less sharp than before...

    Hi,

You can do this without the EL34 fitted.

Hmm, could be a result of less distortion due to the capacitor removal then.

    Ciao T

    Hi,

Yup, for the testing of the DC operating conditions of the input stage that will do fine.

    Ciao T

Got and installed the replacement input caps Nichicon Gold Muse... :D

The sharp sound and controlled bass are back, and the crackle gone, this things are much bigger than the original shitty stuff, luckly there is plenty of space...

Burnt my fingers, lost will to do any more mods... :newbie:

They sent the speaker driver frequency response, I asked for impedance too...

    End of game...

Shorted R4, played good, better than before, left to go to the laundry, forgot the wallet, came back, no sound from the speakers, only from the subwoofer... :yikes:

Removed the shorts, but no luck, will have to find an old TV repair man after all... :shame:

    Great upgrade!

If you'd have left the damn thing alone, then you'd be able to enjoy some good music tonight.

It was not pleasant to screw up the easiest upgrade, but, unlike you, I do have better things to do tonite...

I was going to dig the TEAC, but it doesnt take spades, and I dont have patience to replace speaker cables terminals right now...

That's a bit harsh Antonio - and knowing Robbo's life and having met his girlfriend, I rather doubt it to be true.

But that's besides the point - he's quite a bit younger than you. At least this little folly has shown you that you like the sound of triodes. My suggestion, assuming the impedence chart looks oK, would be to confine your test dummy to the scrap heap and get yourself a suitable SET as a replacement. A good one, designed to drive your loudspeakers. Maybe something from CattyLink?

This may well involve getting rid of that Linn front end though long term - there's little point in having amplification capable of relaying wonderful tonal colour if the source has ripped it out of the chain at stage one. But at least your little adventure might have given you a glimpse of the direction you should be heading in.

Of course it is a bit harsh, same as the original message, and I might be older, but my girlfriend is 28... ;)

I am always trying to learn, and have fun doing it, of course I would like to have a proper SET, but meanwhile I will happyly live with what I can get...

The Linn, believe it or not, is quite transparent, as far as I can tell, the guys that reviewed my system where very impressed...

Of course there is better, but I have my limits...

Antonio Hi, I am using some Allnic valve amps, recommended to me by a friend, designed by Mr Park a Korean gentleman, they are built properly, he hand winds the transformers, the phono uses hi own LCR eq circuit, valve regulated power supplies, the push pull 300b I have are trememdous, better than any pp I have heard 40 wats genuine, and the prices for the engineering and build are very reasonable, have a look at their website Allnic audio, regards Keith.

Here is a photo of the 400 line stage and the pp's the website address is,
    http://www.allnicaudio.com/E/e_index.html
I have been looking around and I can't find anything that is as well specified at anywhere near the price, as an example the 1500 phono stage with valve regulated power supply and LCR circuit is around £2600, it is the best phono I have heard, Keith.

My amplifier is also built properly, as mentioned by many professionals, I am the one who broke it... ;)

Those Allnic look great, and the specs of yours 300B PP are fantastic, but I find it a bit strange that they are so light weight...

I haven't weighred them but each mono is pretty heavy, it would be intersting to compare them against ( the much more expensive ) Wavac Zanden Kondo equivalents! I have heard the integrated Allnic also it is ridiculously good for the price, Mr park used to design for Silvaweld, which received super reviews, the reviewer preferring the Silvaweld line stage to the Kondo M77!

And you sell these miracle amps don't you Keith. How much are you charging for the mono's or are you offering deals for forum members via PM:rolleyes:

Reviews and opinions of dealers should be totally ignored and flagged IMO.
