kane - fair play to you for being straight with Derek,
kinda wish i'd asked for his input ref repairing mine as i did have a kind offer from a competetent solderist who would have had it fixed many moons ago, as it is i am without my NOS, sat here waiting for royal snail mail to advise me the current whereabouts of my little box.
Please post ref your findings when the mod has been made

Hard to tell. Email Derek again and ask him which ones - if you look at the board they all have numbers on the board - R6, R7 etc. Some of those resistors look very beefy!

RMG are "Rikenohm" (Riken is a Japanese manufacturer) and there is a Hi-Fi dealer in Hong Kong who sells the resistors but I have mislaid the information regarding his website!

This link will take you to a website which shows a range of resistors and if you scroll down you will come across RMG (Rikenohm) ones:-

    http://www.bella-audioparts.com/resistor.htm

I am not sure where Bella Audio parts are located!

Looks like the one you require is the 1K5, 1Watt, 1% Gold Plated.

Just as a follow-up to my previous posting, I have come across another dealer who sells Riken resistors, priced in Euros and payment is via PayPal with no minimum order:-

Hiya Kane - thanks for asking, just posted on the 'nos dac sound' thread but yes, my nos returned from its holiday on Friday. Hopefuly you are happy with yours now its fixed?

Plugged it in as soon as i got home, first disk on was the Damien Rice 'O' track Blowers Daughter as that was the track that really started to show the problem .

The repaired NOS did not flinch, no sign of the mad harmonics, absolutely stunning.
As you'd expect it sounds different to the pre-reapir unit, more importantly it sounds much, much better, a tad laid back but thats very easy to offset against improved detail and such a natural sound.
Its been left streamimg 1's and 0's for about 50 hours over the weekend.
i think it has improved in that time but i'm gonna run it for at least 100 hours just to give the Black gates something to work with!
Interestingly, in this time i have noticed its running much cooler than before - the apparently high operating temperature was picked up by one or otehrs on the fateful night chez Lord Summit.
To sum up - i'd be more than happy to offer it up again at a bake off, it wont be to everyones taste but, to me, its amazing.

Added to this, i've just commited to a new (to me) amp, hopefully a decent upgrade and, when we move home on friday, i'll have acces to the dedicated ringmain in stalled during the renovation so, hopefully, things Hi-fi will just get better!

Per earlier comments in the thread - i'd love to hear from those with external PSU's - does it make a huge difference.

    Regards

    Chris

Chris - I look forward to hearing it in fighting fit form. Once I come back from holiday we'll have to sort something out.

The fact that it is more laid back means that i would be interested in a good listen chris1968. At m'lords i fought it as hard and slightly disjointed. Have you got a good power supply sorted yet?
