Bugs Before...
Sorry, cant stand the rust buckets myself. Was my girlfriends failed project, failed due to a car designed to rust doesnt weld so good
Nah, anythings gonna rust after 30 years Steels thicker gauge than most stuff from britain of same era and way thicker than any italian or french stuff! You just need to cut back further Nice bugs Barney. Mine's a 72 (73 model year) GT that was down on the log book as a 1303 (got messed with when original logbook was lost) guess the previous owner failed to notice the lack of mcpherson struts and the funny beam assembly, not to mention the lack of curved windscreen and swingaxle rear
LOL! Can get a bit like that Ive noticed... The heater channels and floorpans were done when I got it, How much more can there be to do I thought!! 4 inner wings, 2 A pillars, the back 1/4 of both gutters, the heater channel closing panels on both sides, the whole front of the car, the bulkhead and 1 engine rebuild later, I still have to sort out all the running gear, weld a new framehead baseplate on, do other numerous tasks on the pans before I can start thinking about topcoating and fitting up. Getting a lil crazy. Started when I was 16 in september 2001 spending 400 quid on it expecting to finish with it owing me less than a grand by april when I became 17. 30 months later, Ive spent 600 quid on tools and god knows how much on parts and still not looking like finishing till the end of the summer. Thanks for listening people, It's cheaper than a shrink and makes more people suffer typing it here!
TBH thats why we gave up, it became a real uphill fight. Every time you work on it you find more rust. In our position we just needed a running car. besides, it aint a motor bike so i wasnt that interested
yea but they dont go round corners, or accelerate, kinda defeats the object Now, a good old brit bike would give a similar sound and have a good pedigree
Very true. Bloke round the corner has loads of old bikes inc. lots of exotic equipment. Got a race tuned ducati 99something (4? not a 6, but cant remember) only started it up once and woke the whole neighbourhood up, his wife wont let him start it up again
Ditch those Atlantic cables by the way, invest in a decent pair of £30 interconnects and you will know what real interconnects do. I had the Altantics while they sound better than the cheapo thin ones they really are very average even the £10 cost. I find the £7 ones Maplin sell sounded better.
Ive made one IC now from bits from maplin but the sexy gold plugs I used were shite and not possible to earth. Not sure it sounded better... Gonna try and borrow a friends cambridge pacific to see if I can tell the difference. It all seems a touch daft sometimes though. Electrons bounce around like buggery not move in nice lines. If the copper is OFC then its conductivity is something like 98% which is pretty high in my book, cant see how changing how its wound is gonna change much. Andy
Its all to with radio interfience sheilding, some cables are just much better than others. Also the type of conductor used can make a big difference silver ones sound different to copper ones for example. I find headphones are much more sensitive to different cables than speakers are because the sound is much more upfront.
hmm, ok. I can swallow the RF filtering story, but surely the difference in sound is an altering of the tone which seems a bit daft?!
tebbs, an altering of the tone as opposed to what reference? this is my problem with all the objective arguments. who's to say if cable a is altering the signal or cable b? this is why i just go with what i like and damn the measurements. cheers julian
