Good point. You could demo the thing and have a large audience who could provide feedback though.

All this reminds me why I prefer a recommendation from someone with a trusted pair of ears as the trouble with measurements is that it is far from clear what it is needs to be measured to identify a quality piece of kit.

    :MILD:

Completely off topic I know but any recommendations on guitar/bass wireless systems? I like the look of the Shure PG14 but you never know until you try it...

    I use a Fender Jazz/Ashdown C115 300-MAG210T Deep.

If your going to try that the audience must not know whats being tested ......so there preconcieved ideas don't play a part in there judgment.....

Antony ...you seem quite certain of yourself. What are you suggesting ?

Is it possible to affect the ear so that sounds are perceived as louder?
In the way that dilating the pupils makes things brighter and salt/msg makes things taste 'better', is hearing a sense that can be heightened?
(Can never remember whether we actually here better in the dark or whether it just seems that way.)

    just had a fun thought...

anyone work in the radiology department of a hospital? :D

with the mis-appropriate use of NHS funds, and a good dose of wasting tax payers money... an x-ray of this thing would show us what's inside.

that'd probably 'jinx the crystals' or something though.

DIY meet sounds like an interesting place to take it. I think you should pete, if you're going anyway.

    Brainwave Manipulation

I thought that we had already established from supplier's web sites that this device is a Schuman resonator (7.8 Hz). If that is the case, then its beneficial effects will be in the mind. Alpha waves put you in a state of deep relaxation, but not quite meditation. In Alpha, we begin to access the wealth of creativity that lies just below our conscious awareness. Sounds familiar? Is it the same enlightened state that we experience when under the effect of a spliff?

Psychiatric hospitals use Alpha/Delta/Theta frequency generators to achieve altered states of consciousness on patients suffering from anxiety, depression and insomnia.

    Eeg

We could hook up the listeners to an EEG (electroencephalograph) and monitor the various states of consciousness. A specific picture of the brain activity with and without the animator could then be recorded.

Why?, don't you want to be put in a state of deep relaxation? Could chocolate be any sort of substitute?:D.

Joking aside, has it really been established what the device is doing or is it speculation? Serious question grivois.

Hi Dev, I said "If that is the case";) obviously, we can't be sure without opening the thing up. But, for me at least, anubisgrau's post on Pinkfish hit the nail on the head.

I have a feeling that this is not disimilar to ionisers? Many years ago was told that ionisers improved the listening experience - anyone tried them - they aren't expensive?
