Arhh a new opening for mana here, 'Todger enhancement racks', I can see it now, Bubs meat & 2 vegs, soar into to new heights with the ultra slick phase 18 upgrade, non MAN is complete without it, weenies need not apply :)

RRP or insurance value? Since my insurance is "new for old" & Naim replaced the olive with the more expensive new black stuff etc the lot is insured for £35,000 not counting the AV or the software costs.

    Tom,

Thats great :) tell the insurers that some toe-rags blagged the lot, with the chq, you only need spend £10K for a decent system, bank the other £25K and well not worry about cash for a while plus you get a decent sound intot he bargin
One question though, would you put up with the newer gear over what you have now?

I'd be surprised if a "new for old" policy worked the way you think it does Tom. Does the new Naim stuff have the same product names as the old olive stuff? If not I can see the insurance company directing you toward your nearest 7Oaks for some nice Arcam gear to replace your Naim kit :D

They must have some way of handling the fact that a manufacturer (whether hifi or anything else) doesn't make the original product anymore. If all they now make is twice as expensive I don't think new for old works or the insurance company would rapidly go bust.

    Michael.

I think that overall consumer goods have become cheaper and this should out wiegh, by some margin, the vagaries of the hifi market place

That is the problem but I guess I'd have to live with it. I'm sure I could tune it in to shape

Well my insurance broker assures me my policy is sound and I've been specifing the need for such a policy for the last 11 years so he is well aware of the value of the new and old kit. I belive NB/Polarbear managed to "upgrade" by having a similar policy but heaven forefend that I ever need to use
it, I like my kit and don't want to change.
