Hi Richard,,

Weren't you playing with a Techie again recently?

I was indeed Rob.

Sadly it's had to go. Why? I've had to spend out more than planned on some work I've had to do on my motorbike (it's my only transport, now we're living in the sticks, until we get a 2nd car) and my clarinets are in desperate need of an overhaul. I'd set myself some cash aside to start modding the Technics but that's all pretty much gone. I know the Tecchy can be made seriously good, it's just that I don't have the cash to throw at it now - out of the box it's a fairly decent turntable but...

...as standard the Thorens sounds a lot better - it needs a bit of work doing on the arm to get it to 100%; the pillar bearing needs replacing or adjusting - Johnnie's having a look at it for me. Once it's done it'll be as good as, probably better than new once the 45 yr old wiring's been replaced too. Then we'll sit down and have a look at further options.

I still want that P9....who knows, perhaps Lefty may sell me his P7 when he gets his 9 ;)

So after years and years of changes I think it is time to show the actual situation over here:

On the right the digital part
- Metronome-Technologie Kalista Reference
- C2A signature (DAC). On top of the DAC a HRS damping plate.

On the left
- AAS Turntable
- Aesthetix IO signature phono preamplifier with 1 power suply
- Aesthetix Callisto Eclipse preamplifier with 2 power supliers

View from top. Notice the E-trap (Bagend) low on the right set for 30 Hz.

The Aesthetix units are on the HRS Nimbus system and have a HRS damping plate on top.

The Metronome-Technologie Kalista CD transporter

The AAS turntable is on the Finite-Elemente Cerabase. The motor is from Feickert, the Mozart arm was made in Serbia and the cartridge is Clearaudio Goldfinger. HRS record clamp.

The subs 2 x 2 12" are driven from a Krell FPB700cx (2009) with a active crossover of Nestorovic Labs NL-12.

Tube power amplifier Nestorovic Labs NA-1 (150 W) modified with StealthCaps and Charcroft CAR resistors in the line path. HRS damping plates on top.

Cables
IC from source to pre: Audioquest diamond Hyperlitz X2 XLR
IC from pre to NA-1 (satellites): WSS platin line XLR
IC from pre to Krell (crossover / subs): WSS platin line
Loudspeaker cables: Fadel Art Goldline Coherence

Racks: Finite-Elemente Pagode Master Reference, on Cerabase

Others
- Acoustic treatments coordinated by the best professionals available in Switzerland
- VPI 17 Pro
- Acoustic Revive RL-30
- Nespa professional

My humble equipment list:-

TT: Townshend Elite Rock.
Arm: RB 250 rewired and foam filled by Audio Origami fitted with an Origin Live stub and weight.
Carts: Denon DL-110 and Goldring 1042.
CD: Marantz CD63 KI Sig.
Minidisk: Denon DMD1000.
Amps: Copland CSA-14 and Rotel RA-04
Speaker: Castle Howard and Castle Richmond 3s

Updates:

I've sold the Rotel, DL-110 and Marantz.
So the 2 systems are :

1. Rock - RB250 - Goldring 1042 into Copland CSA-14 to Castle Howards.

1a. I also feed the output from a Western Digital HDTV into the Copland for FLAC and MP3.

2. PC. - 1453 NOS DAC - Topping TP20 T-Amp - Castle Richmonds.

the Denon Minidisk is now gathering dust.

Current set-up
