Actually, Antonio, isn't it about time you upgraded your pretty little midwoofers for something more serious?

    ;)

If you are looking for some online comedy, Naim's the place. Some goon has run up a thread there which runs for over 50 pages. Most of this is self-regarding dead wood, and not recommended. However, it emerges that the said audiophile has only just remembered/discovered that he's forgotton to remove one of the transit bolts from his CDS3.

This after pages of turgid prose devoted to how 'stunning' it sounds. Now it sounds even more stunning, and his jaw is wired to the floor. All in all reminiscent of Mick's speaker phase revelations.

Rest of system being 252 preamp, 300 power amp, and some Neat speakers. And the Fraim, haha. Quite an investment, overall, and perhaps indicative of the more money than sense adagio.

Does buying Naim rot the brain? I think we should be told.

I got sick of reading that bloody stupid Jaw thread ages ago - trust me to miss a gem like him forgetting the transit screw!!!

I must be the only Naimie who RTFMs!!! After all, if Naim themselves forget to remove one of the transit screws on the CDS3 at a hifi show, than how do you expect a customer to remember? He he he...

Actually reading the Naim side is bad for me. In the same way that eavesdroppers never hear good things about themselves, I learn just this very afternoon that my beloved system is actually thought of thus:
And this from my golden-eared good friend Top Cat!!

    Et tu, Brute....grumble....moan....gnash

    I'm shocked & stunned, a nightmare, etc.

But James, he couldn't mean your system. IIRC you only have one Naim component in your system. So why is it a Naim system and not a Linn system (2-3 components) or an ATC system (2 components, if you count the internal amps in your squawk boxes)? Or even a Mana system, since you seem to say that Mana was the most important addition you made?

Top Cat? My goodness, James, surely not the Top Cat of this review:

    http://www.audioreview.com/pscAcces...ana Acoustics,Phase,4/PRD_123920_1592crx.aspx

Mind you, I stopped listening to him when he told me that I should sell my LP12 (when I said that my CD player sounded just as good) because good hi-fi was clearly wasted on me! (Of course, perhaps it was just that I couldn't hear him any more, but I'd never admit to that!).

Hiya Markus. Aro, 52, CDS2 are the Naimie bits.

And yes, he's heard it, though it was a while ago, and the Mana has multiplied somewhat. Which should make it even worse...

O no! What have I done? It's all been a terrible mistake, etc.

James, I must have missed something. Were you not the last remaining champion of the Ittok? When did you see the light and change to an Aro?

Er...yes that was me. I had to eat a large portion of a certain type of pie just over a year ago when JW sold me the TT complete with an Aro.

The Aro is the best, I now realise, if a little user-unfriendly.

To be fair to myself, though, I had never criticised the sound quality of the Aro.

    Oh Dear

    Dr McPeake

Your system sounds sceechey according to TC and lacks bass according to WM.

Perhaps you need to rethink it.

    Regards

You are right, Mick. This is why I waste no opportunity to 'talk it up'. A cheap charade, but it keeps me happy.

Very formal today, may I say?

    Cheers,

    J xx
