I can get to Goodmayes, but I still don't know where to go. Would appreciate being met.

Lets make it a tubefest. I'll bring my ARC integrated and show off my funky new home made tube dampers.

Station is good for me also.

Shall we all meet at 11.30 at Goodmayes ready for the noon start?

BTW simon what do you mean by transformer based pre?
My WAD Pre has output trannies but is active.

    Oh no! :zzzz: :p

The pre-amp would need transformers on the input to remove the DC-Bias I think. I.e. a passive transformer based pre. I'm not 100% sure though anyone know how a tuve preamp with output transformers would react to DC-bias?

but of course, listening to a wide diversity of cool music (guaranteed with Ian attending) should be the most important thing.

Since the circuits are capacitor coupled I would expect it to work. If any DC does get through I guess the pot will crackle somewhat.
How much DC are we talking?

Shall I bring some spare tubes just in case of unexpected explosions :yikes:

    Rob.

PS: I'll ask the guys over at World Designs for their opinion.

I'm confused. I thought you were asking what is a transformer based pre.

Dev, I'll be there if the samosas are free!

Might even bring the Berning down for a laugh. Will you have a good supply of ear defenders to hand?

    About 2.5V I think.

Oh, and does it have balanced inputs?

Dev, I'm not coming for the system. I'm coming for the samosas. And the music of course.

Oh and I like the look of that silver thing at the bottom of your rack.

I was, but I think I understand what simon means - ie a passive pre with transformers on the input. The WAD is quite different as it has an active tube front end with transformers coupling the signal to the outside world.

    Hi,

I can bring down a Django transformer passive pre. Also I could bring down a Border Patrol valve pre. I might be able to rustle up a turntable if needed. I would be interested in listening to the Berning if Michael pops down.

I bring down some interesting music as well. I'll bring loads of items to choose from.

Excellent - if we have a TT I'll bring the matching WAD phono stage and some vinyl.
