The owner of the hifi shop where I bought my original system visited yesterday to audition the Bel Canto for the first time...
First comment, "it isnt what I expected at all", (funny, thats what most people say, I wonder what they imagine digital amps sound like), this guy listened a lot to the TACT Milllenium, obviously not the same sound...
Then he went on about how good timming was, he always mentions, when demoing any equipement, that correct timming is the most important to let you hear the music...
"This is the best sounding AV I have heard in someones home", he has been already 3 times in my house, the last already with the Krell Showcase, but still with Bryston, apparentely he always liked the sound, but never such sweeping statement...
"I have been trying to identify Arcam or Krell or SF or whatever signature, but found none, we just hear the music, the one thing you can try to improve on is stage height, it already is very wide and deep, but could use a little more height", I seat against the back of the coach, he was sitting on the edge, more than 2 feet closer to the speakers, probably to reach the pistachios, cheese and red wine, but it affected his perception of the stage...
At home he has Sonus Faber Guarnieri with Plinius 250 without subwoofer, still he complained the bass was too clean, too well controlled, he is used to some ressonances, so we raised the volume of the subwoofers and as a result the height of the stage also increased, so he was "completely" happy in the end... :MILD:
While playing a DVD of Pergolesi arias sang in an old stone church, he thought the center speaker was delayed, so I set the processor to stereo, to show it was just lip sync problem with the disc. He preferred stereo, filled the room better and more air around the players and instruments, I agree witht the air, not with the filling the room...
It felt good after all the bashing by some that never heard my system...
