Currently Spinning

3 albums from the Eagles - bought for £5 each in the current HMV sale:

The Eagles
One of These Nights
On the Border

All are remastered - I'm only on the first one so far, but the quality of the pressing sounds pretty damn good to me!

Axe Attack - various (vinyl)

Live at last - Qtips (vinyl)

Rumours - FM (Vinyl)

An anthology - Argent (vinyl)

Nick Caves latest - Lyre of Orpheus/Abbatoir Blues.
Up to his usual high standards...a brilliant writer of songs although a couple of tracks that don't do it for me as on any album.

Guns & Roses - Greatest Hits
Just been listening to Slash's 2 bands, Velvet Revolver (great 1st track, otherwise a bit so-so), and Slash's Snake Pit ("It's 5 o clock somewhere"), which is a great slice of good time rock in the 70s style. Smashing!

This weekend's highlights:

Kansas - Somewhere to Elsewhere (when the CD player finally decided to recongnise it  )

Lone Star - Firing on All Six.

Glenn Hughes - Return of the Crystal Karma (Switch the Mojo - utterly brilliant track)

Mothers Finest - Black Radio Won't Play This Record

Not having a TT at the moment, I've been listening to CDs, something I haven't done properly in about a year. Sound much better than I remember, which is nice. Got through alot today:
Mark Lanegan: Bubblegum
Muslim Gauze: Not sure what it is its a herhumcopycoughcough
Nick Drake: 5 leaves
EZ Rollers: Weekend World
Kraftwerk: Trans Europe
Shpongles: Are you Shpongled?
Infrared Records: Infrastructure
Twisted Anger: Mothership
Sun Kil Moon: Ghosts of the great highway
Renaissance Worldwide: Singapore

Fun :)

The Roots - Phrenology

Well worth checking out for those who like their hip hop to be diverse in an Outkast way.

Space LP1 (KLF)..Picked up at the car boot & a minty great sounding chillout!!

Anthony and The Johnsons "I am a bird now"

Got a copy of this off a friend. Have played it a couple of times. Not sure how well it works as a complete album, or how well it will last the test of time. But, it's pretty special in places. What a voice!

REM - Behind the Sun
REM - Automatic for the People
Fleetwood Mac - Say You Will
Fleetwood Mac - Tusk

Incidently, for those Fleetwood Mac fans, I highly recommend the 'Live in Boston' DVD that was released last year. A two-DVD box set complete with bonus DVD with the Fleetwood Mac lineup of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Pretty much the 'tour' DVD for the excellent 'Say You Will' album released in 2003. Much of that album reminds me of a more modern and 'harder rock' version of Tusk. The audio CD is a nice bonus - I'm particlarly keen on 'Eyes of the World' which was of course orginally on 'Mirage', wihich like 'Behind the Mask' and 'Time' was highly underrated, IMHO.

For those Christine McVie fans, she released her new solo album 'In the Meantime' back in around Septermber 2004 - and very good it is too!

So far today...

Pixies "Doolittle"
Lou Reed "Transformer"
N.W.A "Straight outta Compton - 10th Anniversary Tribute"
Veruca Salt "American Thighs"
Bessie Smith "Careless Love"
