What a coincidence my copy arrived yeaterday. I cant make my mind up if I love it or loathe it. I believe that it will come to rest as a favourite sing a long in the car. I like what they did to "While my Guitar Gently weeps" but really recording a whole track backwards Gnik Nus that shows the no brain attitutude that was taken with some of the material. Missing from the album is all my favourite beatle early rock tunes from their first albums and the excellent Long Tall Sally EP - IMO the Beatles best record!! and most under rated.
The album while very entertaining does not draw you into their music or do anything new with it. The whole feel is that of a musical soundtrack!

Barb Jungr - Every Grain Of Sand

Had a listen to the preview on Linn Website and was totally impressed. CD arrived today and it exceeds all expectations. As a long time fan of Bobby Dylan, I dont usually like versions of his songs by other artists - But this album makes the songs new and engages the listener with Bobs work. The first track is a smokey intimate almost smouldering rendition of I'll be your baby tonight. Later in the album Barb sings "Things Have Changed" arranged as a Tango. This shouldn't work but it does. Had me asking the Mrs about Tango steps. BArb Jungr even manages to make "I Want You" sound sexy!!!! . Another outstanding track is "Tangled Up In Blue" where she demonstrates her uncanny ability to draw you into the story in a completely new way! -- Definitely worth a listen. It's the only album of Dylan's music that my wife will allow me to play while she is in the house!!!

richmond fontaine, the fitzgerald, lo-fi alt folk sums it up best, nice grainy production, very honest sound.

Been listening to the latest Kanye West album, Late Registration. Good album with lots of good tunes and good rhymes. QUite 'poppy' really but its quality stuff I think.

Best new album so far this year.

Scott Mathews: Alt-rock. Plays slide like Ry Cooder and sounds like Jeff Buckley/ Tom Baxter et al.

Impecable recording and production.

and going to see him tomorrow night.

I've had this for a few MOnths now after hearing Elusive and lots of positive comments. The first name to come to mind was Chris Cornell (sp?). I was quite suprised to hear him talking. Not the accent I'd expected.
It's a good album from first listen, but takes a few listens to really appreciate IMO. Still growing on me now.

Let us know what he's like live.
