But all those Eupens and Nordost's have to go,

Knowing me, Know you (ar haa),
There is nothing, the cables can do (ar haaaa),
No more high's or lows in the room
Just time for the..............Boom (ar haaa)

    Knowing me Knowing you,
Woolfie & datty will pull you through,
The trauma will will soon end I know,
    Knowing me knowing you

    Ode to the naysayers

    Whoa whoa whoa whoaaaah...
    ...Whoa whoa whoa whoaaaah...
    ...Whoa whoa whoa whoaaaah...
    ...Whoa whoa whoa whoaaaah...

    (sudden tempo jump)

    Everybody was Power chord fighting
    "HUH!" (Dee-dee-dee-dee dah-dah-dah)
Those Nordost's flew past like lightning
    "HAH!" (Dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah)
Those Shunyata's were a little bit frightening
    "HUH!" (Dee-dee-dee-dee dah-dah-dah)
Blue Eupens thrown with expert timing
    "HAH!" (Dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah)

    They were throwing dodgy TNT's
    And FFRC all around
    There was Acoustic thrown up,
    There was Zen thrown down
It's a modern take on power art,
And every electron knows their part
    How to cause sound riot,
In the power court can't Fry it!

    Everybody was Power chord fighting
    "HUH!" (dee-dee-dee-dee dah-dah-dah)
Those Nordost's flew fast like lightning
    "HAH!" (Dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah)
those Shunyata's were a little bit frightening
    "HUH!" (Dee-dee-dee-dee dah-dah-dah)
Blue Eupens thrown on expert timing
    "HAH!" (dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah)

There was funky (non believer) Mikey B,
    And Tones in his jocks
They said, "Here comes the pro cable lobby -
HUH! HAH! Let's get it on!"
they took power chord fighting and made it a sport
killed Big business without any remorse
    Big business went down quick
Now they're showing their fast power chord tricks!

    Everybody was Power chord fighting
    "HUH!" (Dee-dee-dee-dee dah-dah-dah)
those siltec's was flung like lightning
    "HAH!" (Dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah)
The Omiga Audio's were especially frightening (good)
    "HUH!" (Dee-dee-dee-dee dah-dah-dah)
    The deliverance had Expert Timing
    HAH!" (Dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah)

Whoa whoa whoa whoaaaah --- whack!
    (Dee-dee-dee-dee dah-dah-dah)
Whoa whoa whoa whoaaaah --- damn
    (dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah)
Whoa whoa whoa whoaaaah --- whack!
    (Dee-dee-dee-dee dah-dah-dah)
"Oh no no NOOOOOOOOOOO" --- damn!
    (Dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah, dah-dee-dah

But then, is not "this is all a load of old garbage and you'd be better spending your money on CDs" equally good advice?

Poisonally, I have no problems in "people who believe in certain things". I respect your devoutly-held beliefs and would not try to change them. Here endeth the lesson for the Book of Eupen.

Very good, Tone, we should go into business! If I didn't have a boring patent opinion to write, we could do it all afternoon! So, I'll finish with a bit of Stephen Foster

Oh, da cable races sing dis song
    Doo-dah, Dooh-dah
Da cables shouldn't be too long
    Doo-dah-doo-day-day
    Testin' da whole darn night
    Listenin' da whole darn day
Ah'll bet my money on a Eupen cord
    Blowin 'em all away

Oh de Nordost comes on really strong
    Doo-dah, Dooh-dah
D'omiga's cooled, which cain't be wrong
    Doo-dah-doo-day-day
    Russ brings de Yello fright
    Fadel's for folks who pay
A pile o' money for a bit of wire
Laughs to the bank all the way!

Tones, amazing I'm doing something not a million miles away from such tedium either, astounding stuff :)
More legal issues actually, but along the same lines.
I have a rather nice ditty for you later too. Tones (the yonger)

i'm getting a bit tired and feeling alienated by the 'objectivist takeover' that's been happening here over the recent months. it was always interesting to hear differrent peoples thoughts on bits of kit, tweaks, etc. but now whenever anyone suggests that there may be an audiable difference between 2 cables (be they i/c, speaker or power) they are made to feel like some sort of fringe religious zealot who is just as likely to drink the cool aid.
imho a lot of the fun of 'hi-fi' as a hobby (as opposed to just listening to music, which can be done cookie style on a sony mini system) was the almost anally retentive attention paid to system set up and tweaking.
of course people are entitled to their opinion however i'm beginning to think that zg isn;t the place it used to be any more, or maybe it's just evolving in a direction i'm not interested in going.
    cheers

Julian, I feel you post is grossly unfair, after all, it's not been subjected to a battery of DBT's a session on a spectrum analiser, 2 complete MRI scans, one weeks isolation in a decompression chamber and constant bitpulling, what are you moaning about man ?

Without getting involved in the discussion.
Would it not be a better idea to have a seperate forum, entitled CABLES so that people who want to avoid the cable debates can. Without them clogging up the main forum.
    ?

    What about the seperate forum?

I must admit I get fed up to back teeth with the same old discussions, irrespective of what side of the fence people sit.

It's a fair piont Stu, problem is if it's just pro cables/iso/tweeks one side and bulleted bell wire and "it all sounds the same" on the other, it'll get pretty stale on either forum as well I feel. A wide mix is good, as long as it's in proportion and not preached as per God 0800 toll free

    closer than you think

It.s a nice idea ,but I think it would be short lived .

    As an example ,

    Writer 1
    "I can,t hear a difference "
    Writer 2
    "Me neither"
    Writer3
    " Nor me"
    Writer4
"I CAN ..... oh no ,my mistake ,sorry "

Without someone to debate with ,there wouldn,t be a debate

I think it's just forum life. Stand wars, vinyl v. digital, cables, they all come around again and again if you wait long enough.

We haven't had tubes v. solid state for a while. We could do that one next...

Cheer up, Julian, as Ian says, it's forum life and always will be, and nobody's harmed by it (or probably has his or her mind changed by it, for that matter). Of course, there's always the M*n* Forum, where magic reigns supreme...

Julian and penance - not quite sure what "takeover" you're referring to  . AFAIK I'm the only person on the forum to have recently converted from subjectivist to objectivist - all the others were already here.

Even though I'm a subjectivist, I respect that if someone says they hear differences, then they hear them - whether they are real or imagined. If you perceive it then an imagined difference has as much value as a real one.

On the issue of a separate area just to discuss cables we've sort of been over that before. I'm of the view that the fewer forums there are the better otherwise the forum loses momentum and becomes fragmented. Many threads here are so wide ranging in the topics they cover it would be hard to manage too.

    Michael.
