Last 5 records you bought??

recent vinyl purchases:

morrissey - you are the quarry
scissor sisters - scissor sisters
streets - a grand don't come for free
the cure - the cure
the killers
tv on the radio
badly drawn boy
faithless

have yet to listen to the cure or the killers
moz is ok if a little dated. scissors is a very accomplished debut and worth a listen (i really like it). tv on the radio is either a grower or complete pap (not quite sure yet). badly drawn boy is a little more acoustic and less flambouyant than 'have you fed the fish', it's testament to the guys talent that he can chop and change his style and still produce a cracking listen - there is also a lot of childrens choir singing which sounds fantastic through my system. streets is clever but a bit patchy, a few stonking tracks but over two discs, not too much to hold your attention and defineatley not hifi. faithless is a big surprise lovely melodies, punchy political lyrics. very warm and emotive with a strict beat. imagine a good leftfield album but with a point to it. well worth audtioning.

1. Morrissey - You are the Quarry
2. Pink Floyd - The Final Cut (Japan-pressed LP)
3. Dave Weckl - Synergy
4. Peter Gabriel - Hit
5. JS Bach - St Matt's Passion (DG Arkiv/Baroque Soloists etc)

Wow ... other Nephilim fans ... excellent stuff!

Last 5 albums I've bought ... are ...

Ozric Tentacles - Spirals in Hyperspace
Front 242 - Pulse
The Cure - The Cure
The Cure - Faith
The Cure - Disintegration

Although, the older Cure CD's were inspired by the latest CD - when I realised I actually liked them (and I only have copies on vinyl - not practical for listening to in work!).

More than 5, but i'm worth it.

A wee part of the £250 i spent in HMV last week  Got some books too, including this massive tome of a Rock discography, for a smashing £5.99, which i'll probably never pick up unless i'm in the process of being burgled:

Then i went to Ikea and dropped a ton on a few of those smart cd racks to bang it all on.

This week i'm skint.

All very interesting.

The Cure - Disintegration
Eric Clapton - Me And Mr. Johnson
Derek & the Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs

Just received:
Intergalactic - Cosmosis (double vinyl, £2.50)
Unmixed - Astral Projection (double vinyl, £2.50)
The Astral Files - Astral Projection (CD, £2.50)
...all old stock, cheap, from Transient.com; only problem is the Cosmosis vinyl's cover's a bit tatty - they're offloading old stock. At that price though, who cares!?

Also, just previous to that, I took delivery of:
Raja Ram's stash bag one (CD)
Raja Ram's stash bag two (vinyl)

VERY VERY good stuff!

...and Fabriclive01 - James Lavelle.

So a big dancey/psy-trance blow out this month!

Now on the scrounge for cheap Nick Drake CDs...

Manic Street Preachers Millenium Cardiff LIVE DVD
Ten Years After Live At The Fillmore CD
Roger Waters Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking LP
Best Of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac CD
Pearl Jam Yield CD

ooh hello CM

I wasn't even aware of this, any good? Big fan or previous stuff.

Yo MO! It's just come out, a 20-odd minute soundtrack to a Merce Cunningham dance piece, it's good. Nice single-sided vinyl version available too.

MO, I'd go along with 'good'. Quite interesting. A bit of a parting from their album material.

Bought these yesterday,

Iannis Xenakis - Pleïades
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Mountain Flame
Erik Satie - Piano Works (great value EMI 5 disc box set for £14)
Slint - Spiderland
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
Rachel's - Systems/ Layers
Bert Jansch - The River Sessions
Blue Nile - Hats (after reading about them on ZG :) )

Still listening to the last lot yet.

Solomon Burke - Don't Give Up On Me

It's seriously good. Best track is definitely 'Flesh And Blood' - absolutely stunningly good song performed to complete perfection by an old master. Sounds brilliant too.

3)Squarepusher - Big Loada
4)Edgar Varese - Complete Works; Chailly / Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra / Prague Philharmonic Choir
5)Charles Mingus - Mingus Ah Um

CLASH - LONDON CALLING
NICK DRAKE - BRYTER LAYTER
NICK DRAKE - FIVE LEAVES LEFT
NICK DRAKE - PINK MOON
PANTERA - COWBOYS FROM HELL
PANTERA - VULGAR DISPLAY OF POWER

(Sorry for caps - copied straight from order history of 101cd.com!)

Got all these for £30.50 inc. postage; not sure if the Nick Drakes are the remastered ones or not, but at £5 each it would be rude not to even if they're not. Panterra is reliving my late teens, and I own the first disc of London Calling on vinyl, but not the second - one of those randoms that ended up in a job lot of vinyl I'd acquired... :)

I guarantee the opening track will make u pull at least one funny face. Quite "cheesy" sounding bleeps and beeps which end up being completely destroyed :)

I had it playing in the car yesterday. It would go perfect with a baseball cap and a dustbin sized tailpipe. Other than that, i thought it was ok.

Is that the new one just recently released (or am I confusing him with Al Green? )

Did you buy the CD or the 180g vinyl version? I've had the CD for a while and just got the vinyl as well and it kicks ass.

Not a bad track on the album. I think that None of us are free and Stepchild take some beating

SB played a concert here on Good Friday and the good news was he sounded just as good live as he does on this record.

:)
