    The downside to DNA

    Paul,

You're photo made me smile and make me feel so much better about the child-infested space withiin which I'm constantly standing on Matchbox cars or some similar detritus left by my 4 yr old :)

O boy I'm looking forward to having another baby in the house and all the clutter that entails

I wonder what my garage sounds like....

    Andy.

I can't get the picture up! I've tried inserting an image but it just comes up as a hyperlink - what am I doing wrong?

I can get pictures on the HFC forum but not this one.

I had a quick look, and you dont see the pic because you are inserting it as a url and not an image file.

    Have another go:)

Sometimes picture picture links won't insert as pictures even if you do them right. The forum software only allows picture links for things that are obviously images (eg have a .jpg or .gif extension) and I think there's a limit on filename and/or URL size.

FWIW that Yahoo link doesn't even work for me...

The best I can do is this:-

The forum software recognises the image file, but there is no permission to access the folder. You have to truncate the link so that it ends in .jpg. I have to do this when I post up links from my own webspace onto the forum.

Nope, I have far more quirky taste in guitars than that! The black one is a 1978 Shergold Masquerader and the natural one is a 81 Shergold Marathon fretless. I've got two more Shergolds too, another 81 Marathon, but with frets and a 77 Meteor.

    Here's a pic…

I learnt to "play" bass back in 79-80 by jamming along to Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures, and they used Shergold guitars, that was probably the root of my future addiction to the brand... I've slowly built up quite a nice selection of the things. There is an excellent Shergold users site at www.shergold.com for those interested.

Hmm - about 2/3 of what I have on CD - but it looks like you have waaay more - those shelves are great :) Excellent choice on the lavalamp as well!

I have no control over either the decor (rented) or other items in my lounge (housemate's overrun it with Star Wars junk, err, I mean, memorabilia)... I can't realistically afford my "needle habit" AND living on my own again now though!

What's that seperate on the top of the records - VHS? I'm going to HAVE to get some of that IKEA record racking though - the cheapy stuff I got from Argos is buckling:

A lot of the free hosting services do not allow linking. This means that you can only see the image if its been shown within an HTML page. Brinkster is one them companies, I am not sure about Yahoo though.

IIRC they are Ikea 'Billy' with the add on CD inserts – I looked at all the options I could find and this ended up being the cheapest and most simple for the quantity of CDs I had.

CD box sets: The Can Box, Velvet Underground box, Doors – complete studio recordings, Joy Division – Heart and soul etc.

Here's mine and the room is looking very "Christmassy"- main system first (note: speakers normally a lot further apart).

    Matt.

p.s. sorry about the pic quality - only way I could get it down to 20K file size.
