*twiddles thumbs* Keep us updated, mate :)
sorry guys, loads going on in my life all of a sudden. plan still there, but isn't priority. I don't want to mess anyone around, if you can find it elsewhere, buy it - don't think you have to wait for me! just as soon as i get my act together enough to sort this, i'll let you all know.
How about an AMP3 Kit amplifier based on the Tripath TA2021B chip? Just EUR25 including VAT http://www.41hz.com/main.aspx?pageID=85 There is also a forum at http://www.41hz.com Review of the kit by Yeo of DIY Paradise at http://diyparadise.com/tripath.html
Bi-amping won't increase the sound level though! Sensitive speakers of at least 90 dB/W/m should do it. Here is a list of speakers of highest efficiency to the lowest, starting with LOTH-X AUDIO Bard, 108 dBW/m. http://www.thf.fr/w11AnnuProd/Produits/111EncDb.asp Just be careful. With these speakers and a T-Amp, do not upset the neighbours
There's a uk supplier of evaluation boards and tripath chips ...... anyone intrested in bulk buy ? evaluation board eb ta2022 at £70.00 plus vat and postage or the chip at £15.00 plus vat and postage.
Not much into DIY - can never persuade the solder to come off the iron, by which time I've fried the circuit board, not to mention my fingers! Has anyone managed to get hold of one of the Sonic Impact T-amps? If so, how, when, where and for how much?
eise.. See posts by axebeatz in this thread. Many more users at TNT-Audio forum. From what I read the sound blossoms when connected to good PSU or a 7AH or higher battery. The Chinese factory can not keep up with the huge demand! US dealers are putting them in as back orders. There are many group buys going on at TNT-Audio group at Yahoo! Best way to get one one is to put your name down in a group for EU. There are improved designs coming up based on TA2024, TA2024B, TA2020 chips and the TA2021B (50% more power) chip. I have couple of other projects to finish off so will wait and watch for a while before dipping in.
I suspect this may be another NOSDac episode, they may well be good for the cash, but i very much doubt a giant killer.
A Battery Powered T-Amp AudioCircle thread “Tripath Battery Powered Audiophile Amp: Initial Impressions†at http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/viewtopic.php?t=14587 Does anyone know of hi-fi quality 12VDC CDPs or mods to convert?
Hi, I've just got info form US shop which sends T-amps abroad: We are happy to inform you that item #300-952, SONIC IMPACT 5066 PORTABLE 30W T-AMP is now back in stock at http://www.partsexpress.com. Click here or copy into your browser to check it out! http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-952 I've been playing with t-amps for about a month - unless your speakers are very sensitive it's definitely better to set them bi-amped (left/right or up/down). best regards Marcin
To be honest mate, I think the NOS dac IS a bit of a giant killer. I'd probably get one if my dac ever went pop..unless I had silly amounts of money to spend. This amp though, I think most people would be better off waiting for the new chip that has double the power... unless they have sensitive speakers.
A guy called Derek Shek sells them on eBay. Here's his latest auction: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14980&item=5760887082&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Works out at around £150 inc. shipping and customs charges. Michael.
