The BLG uses a SS mosfet - everyone knows SS is better for heating a bearing than valves.

    Hi

    Interesting thread!

The SME 30 is a very good turntable. I heard it it was with some Kondo amps at a show at Bristol a couple years ago.

    Here are some pictures.

Dean - I heard that system and it did sound very good indeed. Coloured and lush are two descriptions that DID NOT apply IME.

What are those little silver things at the bottom of the right hand rack?

I think I heard that same system at the Heathrow show last. It sounded good but considering the cost... £30K for a preamp issit now?

    Hi Tenson,

The silver things at the bottom of the right hand rack are the Resolution Audio Opus 21 cd player. It's a two box design with one box the transport and dac & the other box the power supply.

The system at the last heathrow show used a Kuzma turntable with new edition OBXs. The Kuzma turntable had 3 tonearms each with the Audionote IO-j (£10,000). The system was silly money.

I agree with Greg, not coloured or lush sounding at all.

The system at the last heathrow show sounded lush and coloured to me, though admittedly quite "nice". For £300k however I felt it could be bettered significantly for 10% of the cost.

    I'll just get my coat...

Your bad thing is worsed in all areas by my bad thing, and for only 200% of the cost.

That's only because you are unfamiliar with live music. I can't think of another reason for such a stupid comment (other than low grade trolling of course)

Seriously the rooms at Heathrow make meaningful listening a waste of time. A trip to definitive might well prove educational.

Nice pictures Dean. I do hope the rumours concerning Kondo San are not correct.

    Hi Greg and Michael,

They are good pictures. I found them on my (internet) travels.

I have seen the rumours but can't find any official conformation about Kondo San.

I can't either Dean. Hopefully something will turn up overnight.

I'm not a great fan of the Gakuons but the M77 is to my ears the finest preamp I have heard by a huge margin.

Actually I have been to literally 100s of live gigs of all genre types so I am exceedingly familiar with live music. It doesnt sound anything like the kit in that room.

Indeed I plan to go there some time to hear the kuzma airline.

Not much point really. The lush and coloured valves will hide the arm's imperfections according to certain sages.

Of course you might actually experience something approaching live music for the first time, and have to recalibrate your scale like some more experienced listeners. We can only hope.

Maybe they have some solid state I can listen through?

I have already heard something approaching live music.
