I was annoyed at my wife for insisting on going to London this week because I thought she might get stuck going to/coming from the airport, or her flights would be diverted or delayed because of the G8 stuff up here.... but not this. Anyway she's OK and my folks are chasing after my brother. I hope everyone else hears from their people soon.

so far 2 confirmed deaths and 4 critical.. shops round here are shutting and some firms are sending people home (quite how, f knows). we're all staying put on the basis that people are safer where they currently are.

mobile network is now back up.

I agree in part, but its only a matter of time before these fanatics looked to such a western power as the UK.

Appears to have been done for "visual effect". Whilst the deaths are not nice, could have been much worse if done during actual rush hour, and with substantially bigger bombs.

The mobile network (Vodafone anyway) were restricted to emergency service use only, which makes a lot of sense.

News 24 said the underground was power surges rather than actual bombs on the trains. The buses were certainly bombs though.
It was rush hour according to the BBC site, 8:45-8:50 I think it said

I came to work on the tube from the northern end of the Jubilee Line to Canada Water. I was at work at 9.00 (unusually for me cos I'm ALWAYS late) 20 mins earlier than normal. Didn't hear about it until my GF phoned up worried, to check I was OK. No idea at all how I'm gonna get home though - no tubes trains or buses

I was in London yesterday! Sheesh:(

Al qaeda (sp?) have posted a notice on the web saying that they are responsible - but I guess a few terrorists groups will want to state this.

Theres loads of groups claiming responsibilty, saying it 'maybe' a certain group at this stage seems pointless to me
