Great stuff!

I dug out volumes 1 and 2 last week for the first time in a while.

There's an 80s edition cut and paste album too, which I've been meaning to get.

Have you heard any Kid Koala albums?

Have you heard the Negativland one I posted about above? Methinks Yoda got a few ideas from there. And DJ Shadow in a way. Not that the negativland thing is really music, more kind of narated randomness sort of but theres a distinct similarity there. That people under the stairs track with yoda is fantastic.
Kid Koala is great (sorry to butt in but he is). Although I thought the first was much better than the second. Have you got his graphic novel thing? Thats nice, good soundtracky thing to go with it too.

Leonard: Is the Athlete one good? I've been debating whether or not to get it, have heard different things from different people.

Anex!
The Athlete is worth a punt if you like mellow, quite well produced indie introspective doodling. Not normally my cup of tea, but the Mrs bought it and I found it more entertaining than I thought..

Anyway, today we've got:
Sly and Robbie - African Roots (double dub cd)
Libertines
Scientist - High Priest of Dub
U-Roy - Natty Dread

Hi Anex.

I'd never heard of the Negativland album but have just done some searching and the story behind it sounds interesting :D I'll have to add it to the list of things to buy. Thanks for the tip.

I owned the Kid Koala book thing for about 5 minutes. Left it in a mates car and he's had it since. Will have to track him down.

I agree with you about Carpel Tunnel Syndrome being better than the newer album. To be honest though, I've not really given Some of my best friends are djs much playing time.

Me neither, it was more of the same but not quite as good I thought. Though the drunk ska thing is funny. Gutted on the book.
Yeah negativland is funny in a we're doomed kind of way (especially as it was 1989 and things have gotten worse since then).

Currently - Bob Florence Big Band: Limited Edition.

Just love how he uses a Contrabass Clarinet to underpin the Bari Sax on some of the tracks. What a sound!! :)

"Coward of the county" by Denver Jazz Quintet with Ginger Baker and James Carter too - excellent

yeah I've got both the kid koala albums but they're a bit of a novelty really. I've put a couple of tracks onto compilations but rarely listen to the albums themselves. Haven't seen the graphic novel thing though.
The best KK track I've heard is on Xen Cuts, Emperors Main Course...got a nice loop (from madame butterfly I think) and beat that runs consistently through the whole track which most of his stuff lacks. I think thats why his stuff makes tricky listening most of the time.
Almost bought the 80's edition of cut and paste the other day but theres some awful tracks on there! I wasn't sure if he'd have cut them up enough to make them listenable!

Jazz funk vinyl special for me:
Herbie Hancock - Thrust and Headhunters
Defunkt - Defunkt
Funkadelic - Uncle Jam
Rick James - Fire it up (RIP)
Billy Cobham - Warning (a decent early dmm mastered LP)

Today (had the day off) managed to get through this lot...

Keith Jarrett - Standards Live
Chick Corea - Children's Songs
Chick Corea - Akoustic Band
Dire Straits - 1st Album
Faure - Requiem (Rutter/Cambridge Singers - a recording of great beauty)
B52's - Good Stuff

:)

Off tomorrow too... :)

New Order - Ceromney 12"
Bravery - Honest Mistake 7"
NME Awards CD
Human League - Greatest Hits

I am adicted to that Bravery, it sounds far too good played through my Project Debut II, Philips HP890 headphones and Rotel preamp.

The bass thump is amazing, so fast and well timed.
