    Paul,

There are for the mono's, I'm going to rebuild the psu's with some interesting idea's we've come up with, out go the 2kva' units (in come some new balanced power designs), and the caps are seriously good and it allows me more storage capacity and space saving, plus great dynamics.

One day Tony I'd like to come down and hear your setup, unfortunatley my trip to Warwick while still on will be by aircraft as was too lazy to drive, so will be later in year before I can manage, and I also extend an invitation to your good self (and any others) if you are in my neck of the woods get in touch, and we can arrange something

You can fly into Bristol these days, If I come up to see either Yourself or Bub, I'll fly, cheaper and far less grief currently £58 return.
I fly out to Bordeux or Bergeraic, quite regularly now they've started services from there £150 ave 2 week return Fly-be :)

I dont know if you've been to Warwick before? If not, Id urge you to make some spare time on your visit to spend time in the town. Its one of the most picturesque towns Ive visited in the British Isles. One treat I havent done myself yet is to see a play by the RSC in the replica of Shakespeares classic venue (its name is on the tip of my tongue, I can even picture it... dammit...!!) .. the ... something... dammit...arghh..!.. the globe? the ........arrgh

Bottleneck I will be going to Warwick and staying at the university, we are going on a Sales Conference so prolly won't have much spare time, I'm sure in between work and drinking copious amounts of free alchohol, that they may have soething arranged, may take my camera with me as any spare time is usual;ly between work finishing during the day and the evening activities at night then we can go somewhere within walking distance for an hour or so, I've been to sales conferences all over the world and you rarely get chance to see sanything other than the inside of the hotel, sleep is lucky if it gets into double figures over 3 nights. May try and arrange soething as I travel to manchester quite often, and could move onto Cheltenham from there, I don't have to pay for fuel so tis cheaper than flying, but I'm gonna make a point of it in the future, maybe bub and I could arrange something one weekend to travel together.

Yup, and I can vouch for their effectiveness.

My 20s haven't got the sheer scale and weight of Bub's 100s (and my electronics and - dare I say it - equipment supports aren't really in the same league) but they produce a surprisingly effective facsimile in my somewhat smaller room.

I might even be tempted to say that the treble on my 20s is better than Bub's (the new Vifa unit ATC use throughout their range from the 20s on up is really something). :JPS:

The "new" treble unit is a Seas Excel.. (unless they've changed again :)) The Vifa unit is on the older big speakers and the active 10's/12's.

As for the difference between the Vifa and Seas drivers, I'd agree that the Seas unit is amazingly good. It was the first thing I noticed when I got my 50's..

    Bub, get your baffles/tweeters upgraded...

The stands are from these guys
http://ironaa.com/seihin.html and look to be custom jobbies. Not that I believe in stands or cables or other gobbldiegook, but these do have a certain "Otaku" charm...
The guys in your original link are nutters BTW. And is that a DIY Fostex speaker system I see in the background - no wonder they're desperate for speakers that work properly
Yes indeed, a very nice amp IMHO. The new Accuphase power amps also look very interesting, as they have a "gain" control (which actually reduces the amount of negative feedback) for use with efficient speakers (I suspect JBLs may have beeen the specific target).

WM currently has a pair of Active 20s in his possession. I wonder what he makes of them :)

Hasn't he already declared them to have no bass?

I'm listening to a pair of Active 20's right now ("modern" finish, not the towers, or the pro monitors). The system as a whole has plenty of bass, but that could be the paradigm servo-15 sitting in the corner ;)

Yes indeedy, I do have some of those very noise makers.
I may post at the end of the week, after a longer listening session, although Andy, I feel that extra speaker you use, it more than warranted.

My tweeters were replaced by ATC 2 years ago and they sound OK to me. The thought of transporting the speakers to ATC fills me with dread. I think I'd have to hire a van.

The van is not the problem bub it's getting the buggers off that bloody scaffolding and down the stairs. :D

Ps they might fit in my estate if we go down to WM you could take them along at same time, but come to think of it why would you want to upgrade, they sound pretty good as it is.

    Hi Paul,

I'll take the 'do nothing' option, but thanks for the offer. This is why the rest of the industry hates Mana, because it kills the box-upgrade-bug stone dead.

WM, would love to visit at some point. I'll wear the cast-iron jockstrap.

Uhh, yeah, Seas - that's what I meant. And by "new" I just meant "current", as they've been using it for, what, 4 or 5 years or so now?

I'm pretty sure Bub's speakers have the older tweeter. Easiest way to check is to count the number of bolts attaching it to the baffle - if it's three then it's the old unit, four and it's the new one.

NOT a cheap prospect - it's something like £4-500 per speaker! More expensive than the upgrade to the Super Linear woofers, even. (Because the tweeter is a different size/shape so they have to replace the whole baffle...)

    Sod that!

Yes, I have the older Vifa tweeter. Already have the Super Linear bass drivers.
