Never licked them neither. But I know what you mean. The top end is lovely. I really love these speakers, now I come to think of it.

Mana stands do indeed make turntables and CD players sound better, by resisting stored energy and shrugging off airborne vibrations in a strange but observable way.

Art Dudley on Stereophile about unconventional technology, thought Bub would like it... :MILD:

Why wrong thread, I wasnt answering to your provocation at Isaac... :p

And you dont believe it is the only way to do that, do you... :JPS:

I will never try it in my place, cant "stand" the looks... :p

So why keep saying that other stands are as good as Mana? Trying to convince yourself? If you don't want to even try it out, fine & dandy, but don't tell me other stands can do the same thing, because they don't.

I never said, nor will say, other stands are better or worst than Mana unless I try them, but I am quite sure Mana is not the only solution, nor the best to all, is it...

Never said they spoil the sound either, just dont like the looks, you find my speakers gayer or whatever, did I complain...

I've heard Sonus Fabers, and I don't rate them. Smooth 'n easy, no guts, very audiophiley, IMO. They look nice, but that's it.

If you haven't even heard Mana, then how can you be 'quite sure' that it isn't the best stand?

I have heard too many Sonus Fabers I dont rate, even mine with most powers, smooth and easy doesnt define my setup at all, a system is more than the sum of its parts, or not, depends on sinergy and setup, sorry you cannot hear it, and I cannot hear your system, even though I am sure yours sounds very good, despite its looks... :p

Because I am quite sure there isnt such a thing as the best stand, or speaker, or amplifier, or wine, or beer, or whatever... :JPS:

Except for the best football team, PORTUGAL... :MILD:

Just kidding... :shame:

Think you misread that one antonio, think what bub meant, that before he saw the "light" he was sure that stands made no difference, then he heard mana, and was convinced they did make difference, what he was meaning was you were sure that there wasn't a "best" stand, now if something comes along and changes that belief you will no longer be sure,

I think what Lowrider is saying is that it is very subjective, Bub thinks Mana is great, but others don't, or couldn't live with the looks, suppose it's like me not getting valves as have small children ansd I know the risks are small but due to heat and high voltage I could never take the risk, no matter what they sound like.

Yes indeedy, I do have some of those very noise makers.
I may post at the end of the week, after a longer listening session, although Andy, I feel that extra speaker you use, it more than warranted.

The sub is definitely worth having - well, at the volumes I like:)

The 20's are bloody heavy though. Like the 10's they get as hot as hell (you can stick your hand on them, but you wouldn't want to keep it there). Both squeal like pigs when powered off (50's do that too), and one of them makes quite a thump!

I'll be interested to hear what you make of them...

The Paradigm sub is a bit of a bargain too ($800 used). I was thinking of a DD15, but the bastard velodyne dealers won't discount and they are still pretty rare used. Now the DD's have Merl's seal of approval I guess I'll have to look elsewhere ;)
