Honda 400/4 if you can find one ;)
Or a nice Z650:)
Aha! Finally I have web access again!

I was looking at some of the manufacturers' websites earlier. Seems to be something of a gap in the model ranges between 125cc and about 500cc :(
I don't think a 125 will be sufficient for my needs. Hmmmm.
Some of the 500s look quite sensible though :)

Chris,
A GS500 is a decent bike, not visualy but otherwise OK
From what i remember when meeting you, your a tad taller than me, so most modern 400's would be a squeeze for yourself.
A honda revere 600/650 is very comfy, not to fast and reliable.

I guess what we are saying, is that a BICYCLE can corner exceptionally well at speed because the body english of the rider can be used to get closer to the ground than even a sports bike. Couple this with the very very low weight and self propulsion of a steep slope and you can see why tour de france riders can go down some mountains faster than motorbike racers..

This handling and bike geometry is of course the same advantage that a sports bike has over a harley davidson.

Ive yet to see a Harley going round a corner at 60 degrees with the riders knee on the ground. I think this is because it is impossible?

If Im right (and Im an arrogant soul, and I think I am!!) HOW the FFFFFF can a Harley corner on a mountain incline better than a sports bike?!

Please educate me if Ive got this wrong, I know my push bikes, but not my motorbikes.

Chris

I see carruthers, please pardon my grammatical mini land slip oh. grand master of inner circle of wordsmiths, Twas' but a momentry lapse on my steeply overworked grey matter (I'll settle for C+/B- this time)

Beans Andy.......could they be the answer to your pileage problems possibly, pooh pouring profusely porridgelike from the painfullly pink posterior.

God I love alliteration

Hmmm. Well I do have a certain sense of style to maintain. I don't want something ugly. One I do like the look of is the Yamaha TW125. Now if they made that as a 250 or 350 I'd be a happy bunny.

My height comes mainly from having long legs. My upper half is average so I don't look tall when I'm sitting down. I had a 125 for years and didn't have a problem with it.

The last one was a Honda. I never really felt safe on it in the wet. In fact it didn't handle anywhere near as well as the Yamaha that preceded it.
