there were a couple of bikes back in the 80's that i really lusted after - until i realised my own mortality one rainy night. any help as to what they were?
    1) a honda i think with oval pistons and a ludicrous number of valves - apocryphal tales of racing versions laying down 100 yards of rubber coming out of corners thanks to torque a hardley owner can only dream of. - any reccollections asto what this one could have been?

    2) another honda - i think. this was was a 400 tripple with some very cool exhausts sprouting from under the seats iirc. sounded like a fs1e (ring-a-ding-ding) but went like stink. again any ideas?

chris, there's a ducatti monster 600 on that site for 3k if i was the air head maniac with no responsibilities that i used to be i'd go for that.
    cheers

There's only a 500 on their website. It's a liquid cooled twin and not nearly as pretty.

    Tone

    1. NR750 (RC40), Titanium rods, oval doins etc, IIRC back then it was best part of 30K, so not many made it onto the road.

    2. I am fairly sure Honda are the only one of the japs not to make a tripple, Kawasaki had the KH series, Susuki with the GT boiler and Yammy XS >750. From your description it sounds like a factory racer, underseat exhausts werent to common back then, I think Honda did some wacky 6 pot 400.

I reckon the 400 triple would be a KH400, Kwak stroker with insane acceleration for its size, crap brakes, crap handling and crap in pants time:D

    Andy,

I had a cbx 1000, awful piece of Junk, Kwack did the Z1300 in line LC'd 6, a S1 as well and a 750 triple with a 810cc big bore. Like a crackle of banshes on speed, old stan stephens F2 spannies :D
The Honda, a good friend of mine owned (Flapper,He paid £9K for it :D ) 3 years after it was released, Great bike, but a touch over rated

Sorry, Antonio likes leather trousers with ferrous material adornments that dangle in the breeze (wouldn't be a wind as Hogs don't go that fast)

    This looks nice:

Looks mean huh? It's only a 125. Andy, how fast does something like that go with a 125 engine these days. Back when I had one, you were lucky to reach 70mph at full belt head down.

Most are restricted Chris, so maybe around 80, remove restriction and maybe 100. Not to sure TBH, not played on a 125 for years.

Forgive me here - I know f all about motorbikes!

But what sort of bike should one be looking for if you fancied having a bike, but didn't want to kill yourself within six months of passing your test. Of course, the thing has to look the nuts as well :D

    That's a very good question.

By the way has anyone seen Antonio, or is he out beating streetracers on his Harley?
