Currently Spinning

Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman. Nice album.

Inspiral Carpets - Life. Still playing this in the car...been in there for a couple of weeks now. Great stuff.

Giving Sunrise on the Sufferbus (Masters of Reality) an airing. Chris Goss was on form here, as was Ginger Baker.

Mixed bag of rock-tastic guitar based loveliness, due to afternoon free of children, plenty of volume :D :

Kinks - Something else by the Kinks
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Now I got Worry
The Stooges - Funhouse
Screaming trees - Sweet Oblivion

...and now playing....

Deep Purple - In Rock

.....hehe....

Wifey at work today from 12 til 9. So chores done in 60mins flat and its play time :JPS:
Listened to loads of stuff today, newly purchased p.u.l.s.e. from Pink Floyd is mind blowingly great, much less sterile than studio cuts.
But, played the album that first got me to listen to piano in a rock context. Could not stand it untill I heard this, Supertramp, Crime of the Century.
This was my "test record" many moons ago when trolling the HiFi emporiums.
I challenge anyone to listen and digest this a few times and not be moved. Played on Cd and then on 12". CD more dynamic, LP more musical. :MILD:

EL-P: Fantastic Damage and soon to be High Water by EL-P which I bought, played once, then shelved. Time to give it another go I think.

Loads of Vinyl

Testing out the new phono stage

Crime of the Century - Mobile Fidelity 180 g

Stunning sound that kills my CD version specially the piano & sax

Dave Brubeck Live at Carnegie Hall

Slightly ropey recording but fantastic playing

Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis (4 Men with Beards 180g)

Dusty never sounded so good

Women and Children / s/t (2x10"+DVD in a fancy box). I know nothing about them but it's mostly acoustic kind of Velvets / Nico / Syd Barrett.

You get anywhere with Fantastic Damage Anex? I bought it a while back, given it a few chances but can't get into it at all.

Yeah I like it, theres a few slightly dodgy moments when the lyrics don't quite work but I like what he's saying so its forgiveable although I do find him quite hard to understand, not sure if its the mix or his accent. The production is insane, loads going on and each track changes so much all the way through its hard to tell where one starts and the other ends.

Today I have been mostly playing;

Heart - Dreamboat Annie, on 12"

Pat Benatar - Heat of the Night

So thats me dose of female USA rockers for this evening, dam good though.

Time for Peter Gabriel 3, ( once bought what I thought was the German pressing of this, but it wasn't. I now no that The Intruder equates to in parle Dutch,......: Die Eindrenlung

Latest deliveries from Amazon, all at between £3 and £6:
Kyuss - Blues for a red sun (occasionally good but often droney and uninteresting stoner rock)
Kool and the Gang - The Funk Collection (classic funk, including "Jungle Boogie")
Derek Bailey, John Zorn, George Lewis - Yankees (a record/cd everyone should have, if only to show people how far the boundaries of music can be pushed! It's really free, man - and very funny...)

Hmm yeah I found the production made it unlistenable really. Not even a hint of a melody or hook which is quite important to me in hiphop. I also like a bit of structure in an album.

yes thats why I didn't get into it. Worth a go though, theres no real hooks etc. like you say but he does have a habit of bringing in a really nice trancey type synth bit after its been really hectic

Today didn't play much at all really, but listened to Alan Parsons Project, Best off, for the first time. (1st time for any APP really)

Highs and Lows so jury still out, maybe not quite my taste :slayer:

Pretty good eh? I mentioned it a few MOnths back (https://www.audio-forums.com/as-rediect/showthread.php?t=11037) but not much response.

I've also mentioned "aka mo" here before (https://www.audio-forums.com/as-rediect/showthread.php?t=11135) and you might like his stuff too. There's a few deMO's on his site and myspace if you follow the links on that thread or in my sig.
